Understand your teeth.
Care for your gums.

Your dentist assesses what you need and explains the care proposed for that visit.

The check-up

A careful examination.

An examination looks at your teeth, gums and soft tissues, including existing fillings and other restorations.

  • Discuss changes or concerns you've noticed
  • Review gum health and your home-care routine
  • Use X-rays when clinically needed
The clean

Attention to build-up.

A professional scale and polish removes plaque, tartar and surface stains. The care you need depends on your oral health.

  • Cleaning tailored to your teeth and gums
  • Fluoride treatment if appropriate
  • Practical advice for care between visits

Ask reception about fees and what is included. X-rays, fluoride and other care depend on individual clinical needs.

Know what comes next.

From the first call to your next review, there's room to ask questions.

  1. Arrange your visit

Reception discusses appointment availability and fees. If you're a new patient, ask what to bring.

  2. Talk with your dentist

Discuss your dental health, any concerns and your routine at home. An examination helps identify what needs attention.

  3. Understand the plan

Your dentist explains the findings and any recommended care. Ask about the proposed treatment and its cost.

  4. Plan your next review

The timing of your next check-up depends on your oral health and risk factors. Your dentist will recommend a schedule for you.

Before your
next visit.

Ask reception if you have a question about appointments or fees.

Do I need a check-up if my teeth feel fine?

A check-up gives your dentist a chance to assess your teeth, gums and mouth, including concerns you may not have noticed. Your dentist can recommend care based on what they find.

How often should I have a check-up?

There isn't one schedule for everyone. Your dentist recommends the time between reviews based on your oral health, history and risk of future problems.

Will I need X-rays at every appointment?

No. X-rays are used selectively when clinically needed. Your dentist will explain why they are recommended and discuss any associated fees.

How much will my visit cost?

Ask reception about current fees and what your appointment includes. Any additional care should be explained before you decide to proceed. If you have dental cover, check benefits and limits with your health fund.

Can I enquire if I'm a new patient?

Yes. Choose “My first visit to Better Smiles” in the form, or call reception. The team can explain the next step and what to bring.

Does the form confirm an appointment?

No. It saves a request for contact. Reception will discuss available appointments with you. To speak to the team, call (02) 9387 1032.
